Gaia Lodge

We hope you're looking forward to your stay. Please read through the following information and watch the hot tub instruction video before you arrive, see you soon!

Check-In

Check-in is from 3pm. On arrival please park in the parking bay labelled 'Gaia Lodge'. The key for the cottage will be in the door so help yourself. If you need anything, just pop round to the on-site Reception and we'll be happy to help.

Check-Out

Check-out is at 10am. Please make sure you switch off the lights and you have all your belongings. The key can be left in the door so that the cleaners can gain access straight away. Thank you.

Dogs

Dogs and pets are more than welcome, but please don't get muddy paw prints on the white bed linen. A charge of £80 will be made if you do. Because of the clay in our soil, mud doesn't wash out of the bed linen and it is very expensive to buy - we like quality here. Please don't use the towels for wiping down wet or dirty doggies, and please try to respect the accommodation as much as you can.

WiFi

We now have super-fast broadband. On your device please login to Upper Hurst Farm Admin and use the password p7nYTbsM7C. Please let me know of any issues or problems as this is a new service and we may need to fine-tune it.

TV

There is a new smart TV blabla

Blinds

All Roman Blinds use a pull cord with a locking mechanism. It works best when the cord is at the back of the blind. If you pull the cord towards the blind, it will unlock and if you pull the cord away from the blind it will lock in place.

Log Burner

CO detector-there is a carbon monoxide detector present in the room that is tested weekly. There are instructions on how to use the log burner inside the cottage.

There is a box of kiln dried hardwood supplied for you, as well as a kindling and firelighter bundle. Extra of these items can be purchased at the site Reception.

Refuse

Recycling bins are available in the garden of Gaia House (next door to Gaia Lodge). The black bin takes cardboard, plastic, glass, aluminium and the blue one anything else. We ask that you recycle as much as possible as this is very much in-keeping with our green ethos. There is a plastic bag in one of the kitchen drawers for scrap paper. Any organic waster can be put into the brown bin.

Shower & Velux Window

Please use the controls on the wall to open the velux window when you have a shower. Please make sure to let out all the steam before you close the window again. In summer, the window can be left open all the time. This is to prevent mould from developing, thank you.

Heating & Hot Water

The heating and hot water is provided by a biomass boiler. The water temperature is blended to 40 degrees for safety. The heating is provided by a biomass boiler and is fed through underfloor heating pipes in the floor. There are 3 separate zones, bedroom, bathroom and lounge/kitchen area. These are fully controllable by individual thermostats that simply have an up and down temperature button. We recommend settings of 18degC for the bedroom, 21degC for the bathroom and 21degC for the kitchen/lounge area.

Vacuum

There is a vacuum cleaner available on request.

Blankets

There are blankets available in the wardrobe.

Laundry

There is a small 4kg washer/dryer under the breakfast bar that is free to use. An iron is available on request.

Lights

Please switch the lights off when not needed and on departure.

Shopping

We encourage guests to use the local village shops as much as possible to help our local economy. Our biggest industries are tourism and quarrying, so contributing to our local economy helps to keep people here, keep schools open and enables people to earn a living.

Our village shops are: Hartington Village Stores, Hartington Newsagents & General Store and Hartington Farm Shop & Cafe. We also have a little on-site shop which sells local produce.

Injuries & Accidents

The nearest minor injuries unit is in Buxton (10 miles) at The Cottage Hospital, London Rd, SK17 9NJ and the local Doctors Surgery is in Hartington (2 miles) Tel 01298 84315.
